Network Engineer

Salary: Up to £40000 per year + 5% flex

Location: Hemel Hempstead (with travel to client site)

Role Overview

You will be required to manage necessary resources for the expected production of the enterprise network in accordance with the latest rules, contracts with suppliers and service contracts. You will provide second level assistance, with respect to quality, productivity and security, in order to ensure continuity of service to users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and resolve assigned incidents
  • Progress and carry out regular maintenance activities
  • Communicate with customers to provide progress reports on Incidents
  • Identify and report on areas of known problems
  • Supporting Patching and management of the Network Infrastructure
  • Administer IT resources and networks (users, quality of service, site security, IT networks, telecommunications infrastructure, transverse applications)
  • Provides Tier 2 support, in the framework of service level agreements (SLA)
  • Must regularly inform the Team Leader or another manager regarding work and projects progress.

Essential Skills/experience:

  • Demonstrable experience as a Network Engineer with relevant industry experience in a Service Provider environment

  • Understanding and experience of Network principles including:

    • Routing and Switching

    • Firewalls

    • WAN and LAN technologies

    • Telephony and Video

    • WiFi

  • Experience working with a number of the following:

    • Palo Alto

    • Cisco ASA

    • Cisco Nexus Switches

    • Cisco 6509

    • Cisco IPT call manager

  • Industry Standard Qualifications such as Cisco CCNA, Desirable CCNP or equivalent

  • Sound decision making abilities based on the salient facts

  • Exhibit excellent communications skills, both oral and written, with proven experience of working in a team environment to achieve challenging but stimulating technology solutions
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and passion for delivering an excellent customer service
