This team is responsible for the identification, assessment and execution of strategic and tactical initiatives across assets, liabilities and capital to optimise shareholder capital surplus. Within this team, the Reinsurance Manager will manage reinsurance relationships in the market and support the execution of reinsurance transactions linked to back book opportunities identified by the wider team.

They will work with a range of external stakeholders (e.g. Investment Banks, EBCs and Re-insurers) and internal stakeholders (e.g. PPMG, the Chief Actuary and the Finance, Legal, Risk and Pricing teams) to provide structuring solutions for and to deliver reinsurance transactions.

Purpose of the role:

  • To provide pricing and technical structuring expertise and modelling capability to support reinsurance transactions
  • To develop new solutions and structuring options for reinsurance  transactions
  • To support the execution of reinsurance transactions and provide technical input
  • Maintain strong external networks to keep apace of competitor and market developments
  • Develop responses to queries, or help to resolve issues relating to previously transacted wholesale business
  • knowledge of structuring in financial services
  • reinsurance experience is a is highly valuable as well as longevity swaps
  • knowledge of executing reinsurance transactions
  • knowledge of developing complex models, ideas and analysis tools
  • knowledge of generating business ideas through the application of creativity
  • knowledge of using subject matter expertise to interpret complex recommendations and recommend solutions for business stakeholders
  • knowledge of managing complex internal and external relationships at a senior level

Experience:

Knowledge:

Good understanding of actuarial, capital structuring and financing techniques

Detailed knowledge of the external reinsurance market, up to date with the latest risk thinking (within & beyond the insurance sector) and applying that perspective inside the organisation to challenge thinking & add value to the business in longevity

Personal attributes:

Ability to work collaboratively across the immediate team and broader organisation

Ability to look beyond face value, ask the right questions and make links and connections across the organisation and between similar situations

Agile and flexible in approach to work

Professional qualifications:

Relevant professional qualification (e.g. Qualified or part-qualified Actuary following the Continued Professional Development) with post qualification experience


Knowledge:

Experience of actuarial, financial and capital management concepts

Qualification:

Relevant professional qualification (Actuary, Accountant or Chartered Financial Analyst) or equivalent business experience.

Personal Attributes:

Strong relationship management, influencing and negotiation skills.
