We have an exciting opportunity for a Multi skilled operative who has a passion to work with us to enhance this service for our customers. You will need to have a range of building skills to enable us to complete various tasks such as plastering, joinery, plumbing, painting and general building duties. The operatives play a big part in supporting our reactive and planned teams.
The role will involve working within a number of areas across the South West. Ideally the multi skilled operative will be close to Southampton, Portsmouth, Worthing, Brighton and Bournemouth, as it will involve them working around these areas. Typically, you would cover a radius that is 1.5 hours around where you live. Therefore, it is essential to hold a full UK driving licence in order to drive a company van.
The role is based on a 37.5-hour week 8.30am-5.30pm and may include the occasional Saturday appointment. Ideally you will have had previous repairs and maintenance experience and possess a NVQ 2 or NVQ 3 or equivalent in this field. Whilst we recognise that formal training is important, this role is more about recognising the importance of our service and working with our staff, customers and support to get the right solutions first time.
You will be a front facing service, which involves supporting our customers through the repairs process. You will also have the ability to diagnose defects with an emphasis on 1st time repair resolution. You must have experience of working safely and have an understanding of good working practises, ideally with a number of training modules completed, such as: Asbestos, Work at height, Manual handling and Risk assessment. It’s fundamental that you have the ability to organise your work in an efficient manor so that it maximises your efforts for our service. You’ll need to be customer focused, adaptable and comfortable communicating and building relationships with all different kinds of people, as well as ensuring that we remain responsive to our tenants’ and wider customers’ needs.
You’ll be proactive in your approach and customer driven, ensuring the services we deliver to our tenants are of the highest quality. Knowledge of repairs and building defects is important, supported by an understanding of learning disability.
