1.Purpose of role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager and supporting the Production Management Team, the multi-skilled engineer will be responsible for the efficient maintenance, repair and improvement of all equipment through planned and non-planned activities to maximise plant availability.

2. Key Accountabilities

*Health and Safety/Food Safety
Responsible for ensuring all engineering activities comply with relevant health and safety/food safety regulations/legislation:

Critical Tasks:
*Ensuring appropriate PPE is worn
*Adherence to Safe Systems of Work
*Ensure adherence to relevant health and safety / food safety legislation.
*Ensure COSHH guidelines are followed
*Reporting all accidents and being proactive in suggesting improvements/resolutions

*Wearing correct PPE at all times
*SSOW followed and adhered to
*Accidents reported/prevented
*Equipment breakdown/repair
In line with Business needs and priorities, responsible for working with production to ensure plant/equipment breakdowns are repaired in an efficient, timely and cost effective way

Critical Tasks:
*Diagnosis of plant/equipment breakdowns/defects
*Repair of plant/equipment breakdowns/defects
*Advise production of resolution or planned resolution

*Response time
*Downtime due to fault
*No of returns to the same problem
*Feedback from Production team meetings
*Preventative Maintenance
*To ensure preventative maintenance tasks are completed in accordance with the preventative maintenance plan.

Critical Tasks:
*Carry out scheduled PPM tasks and fault reporting
*Repair or report any identified faults

*Reduced downtime
*Reduced waste
*Safer working environment
*Less accidents
*Improved efficiencies
*Administration Maintenance
To maintain records to comply with current legislation, safety, quality and administrative standards and procedures.
Critical Tasks:
*Responsible for completing and returning planned maintenance shift reports
*Communicating repairs/diagnostic issues to Engineering Manager
*Ensure the production break-down log is correctly completed
*Proactive in raising work orders (PROs)
*Responsible for correct usage of stores/spare parts
*Satisfactory completion of shift log
*Satisfactory completion of PPM sheets
*Appropriate and correct completion of permits to work
*Downtime due to spare parts availability

3. Knowledge, Skills AND Experience Required

*A recognised engineering qualification that provides expertise in electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering
*Understanding and compliance with electricity at work act and 16/17th edition electrical regulations
*Excellent knowledge and understanding of health & safety/food safety legislation
*A good understanding of the company's product flow and the supporting equipment
*Well developed problem solving and diagnostic techniques
*Ability to communicate effectively
*Proactive approach to resolving problems and identifying improvement opportunities
*Ability to work effectively in a team
