Mid-Weight/Senior Designer

Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours

Permanent/Fixed Term: Permanent role

Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

We are looking for a talented, experienced designer to join our design team at our Cheltenham Studio. You will provide creative solutions across private label brands and products.

Key Objectives of the role:

To accurately interpret and articulate the creative style and vision of SLG across a broad range of projects and to support the Creative Director and members of the design team in providing creative solutions for SLG across private label brands and products and SLG manufactured products.

Key Tasks

To work with the Creative Director and design team to provide the creative development function for private label and brand creations including both seasonal and all year round ranges to include;

  • Design conception
  • Product idea generation
  • Product styling
  • Liaison with our NPD department, in the development of annual collections, beauty products and ranges
  • Creation of consistently high quality work that is driven by insight and is well substantiated within the brief
  • Development of creative and client insight and acting as the point of contact for own projects and creative challenges
  • Delivery of well-defined and focused briefs when working with other departments and suppliers
  • Awareness and understanding of the wider industry and how commercial issues affect design
  • Working collaboratively with the wider team of SLG
  • Commitment to the vision of the business and advocating this
  • Willingness to get the job done when required and commitment to high standards of work at all times

Experience Requirements

  • Graphic Design degree or similar qualification
  • Experienced in Art direction of product and lifestyle photography
  • Excellent typographic skills
  • Proven experience of packaging design, manufacturing and print processes
  • Significant creative development experience ideally within beauty or fashion world
  • Knowledge of artwork preparation and management
  • Excellent standard of English language
  • Fully conversant with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign
  • Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint
