We are currently recruiting for a Panel and MET Technician to join an enthusiastic, driven and multi skilled team in Portsmouth in their new and modern facilities. You will be working within the small but talented team, taking pride in all work whilst appreciating the importance of the customer's satisfaction.

What about the company?

The company which you will be working for is leader in the field of vehicle repair. They will offer you 20 days holidayplus bank holidays and benefits such as a pension scheme, Christmas parties and a salary ofup to £35k, dependent on experience. Your working hours will be Monday -Friday 08:00 - 17:30 and every other Saturday.

What will you be doing?

The role encompasses skills of both Panel and MET Technician - therefore you will have a range of varying tasks from start to finish of the repair process, taking responsibility for carrying out the repair as per the method outlined in the job pack; ensuring all elements are understood and in line with all safety measures defined by the company. Such tasks may include panel alignment, with strip and refits where applicable; filler repairs & correct finishes in P180; undersealing, weld through primers and completion of anti-corrosion measures.

In addition to the usual tasks associated with the role of a panel technician, you will also be responsible for the removal and replacement of all the mechanical, electrical and trim components of the repair job.

So, are you right for the role?

As a person, you will be an upbeat, positive, flexible and enthusiastic team-player with experience in both panel and MET aspects of automotive repair work. You will be a qualified technician with 4/5 years' experience or more in vehicle body repair. It would also be very beneficial if you have some of the following too:

  • AOM009 welding certificate or BS equivalent / MIG welding / Spot welding experience
  • Valid driving licence
  • Mechanical and suspension knowledge
  • Aircon knowledge/training
