A phenomenal specialist school in Oxford are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to take on the position of Mental Health Teaching Assistant. The school cater to students aged 5-16 with varying social, emotional and mental health needs, providing them with quality, tailored education. As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant you would be collaborating with the SEN Teachers at the school to ensure a safe environment for the students to follow a curriculum not available in mainstream education. The responsibilities of a Mental Health Teaching Assistant range from helping students to self-regulate, coaching students facing mental health challenges and ensuring students can maintain their focus on their tasks. The specialist school aims to help students build independence, self-esteem and confidence. They want to welcome a candidate who is pro-active, empathetic and interested in promoting mental well-being in young people.

The Mental Health Teaching Assistant will be supporting students on a 1-1 basis, acting as a role model and moral support. The young people attending the school benefit from personalised curriculums, which is difficult to access were they to attend mainstream education schools. Being a Mental Health Teaching Assistant will require a pro-active mind-set in order to find solutions and identify potential trigger areas for students. By identifying these trigger areas, the school will be better informed and adjust tasks accordingly for students. The successful Mental Health Teaching Assistant will play a crucial role in keeping students in education and achieving their true potential.
