About the team:

The Liaison and Diversion service (L&D) for South West London and St Georges ( SWLSTG) provides a range of services within the Criminal Justice Pathway including identification, screening and assessment and where appropriate will facilitate diversion from custody to the least restrictive setting. The L&D model is an all age and vulnerabilities model and as a service we aim to improve health outcomes for mentally disordered offenders through early identification and screening and by providing interventions that facilitate timely and appropriate pathways to care.

About the role:

What we are looking for is an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Mental Health Nurse to join our dedicated and dynamic team and who will work as part of the liaison team in providing safe and effective care and improved outcomes for those in police custody/court who require intervention from our team as L&D practitioners, working across an all age and all vulnerabilities model.

The successful applicant will work on a rota system with other Band 6 colleagues, covering both Wandsworth Custody Suite and Wimbledon Magistrates Court and will be expected to work unsocial hours including weekends and bank holidays.

The applicant will proactively screen detainees in police custody and courts, prioritise need and offer assessments to those who are appropriate. The L&D service will provide information to criminal justice partners to enable decision making, both in verbal and written form.

About the location:

The L&D team base is Shaftesbury Clinic located within Springfield Hospital, Tooting, although practitioners are mainly based at our criminal justice locations below.

Part of the role is at Wandsworth Custody Suite which on Wandsworth High Street, easily accessible from Clapham Junction train station by bus or is a short walk from Wandsworth Town train station. There are many local shops nearby and good bus network.

Wimbledon Magistrates Court is in the borough of Merton, close to Wimbledon station where train, tube and tram links can be found. Again there are multiple shops and restaurants within easy reach.

Our Trust headquarters is located within the impressive grounds of Springfield University Hospital in Tooting and we also operate in nearly 100 other locations throughout the UK. This is easily accessible via the Northern Line (Tooting Bec Station) and via private transport. The Trust provides subsidised parking fares for all our substantive staff. Our main site is located immediately next to Tooting High Street where staff can easily access a range of shops, cafés, restaurants etc.
