Cambridgeshire Employment Service is a mental health employment service working to the recovery model, they provide a range of support services for people with mental ill health. Recovery can look and feel very different to each one of us. But they also know that the right support is provided, at the right time, they can inspire recovery nationwide and that recovery is possible for everyone. That’s where you come in. Your challenge? To help individuals with mental health issues to find paid or voluntary employment, or if they’re already employed, retain their employment when they’re struggling and advise employers about mental health in the workplace.
About you
Experience of the employment sector isn’t essential, but a background gained working with people, possibly in recruitment, education or human resources would be an advantage, as would an understanding of mental health and experience gained within a social care setting. What’s for certain is that you have lots of self-motivation, excellent presentation and listening skills. You might have previously worked as an Employment Advisor, Recruitment Consultant, Tutor, Teacher, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Careers Advisor or could be a recent graduate such as a Psychology Graduate looking to get your first step on the career ladder.
About the role
As an Employment Specialist you will be responsible for a caseload of 30-35, working to an employment model promoting employment opportunities or job retention strategies as a positive intervention in a client’s recovery. You will meet with clients in community settings, in the office or over digital platforms to assist with career choice and planning including job search, CV preparation, interview techniques and career development. You will work with clients (and employers where needed) to help clients retain employment. We will also rely on you to liaise with our partners as well as actively networking with local employers, Jobcentre Plus and Voluntary Organisations to help find paid job opportunities.
You must be able to effectively manage a caseload, provide person-centred support to individuals to help them find and sustain appropriate employment. You’ll need to be assertive and adaptable, with a positive attitude about employment for all and excellent networking and interpersonal skills. An effective time manager who knows how to use IT effectively to support caseload management and reporting, your own transport, or the ability to travel around the whole county are also essential.
Please apply via this advert – everyone gets a response. Feel free to call the office and ask for Lawrence if you would like to talk to someone about the role in person.
This is a rolling recruitment process; candidates will be shortlisted as and when they apply (recruitment will be going on throughout September/Oct).
(Please note the full time salary is £24,630 plus £2,250 Location allowance per annum totalling £26,880 per annum. For Central Bedfordshire, the full time salary is £24,630 plus £350 Location allowance totalling £24,880 per annum.)
