As a Visitor Welcome and Membership assistant (Part Time) in the West Lakes you will form part of a team passionate about the outdoors and on a daily basis you will help to raise the profile of the work that we do to our visitors, provide an excellent welcome and sell memberships to support our conservation work.

What it's like to work here

Wasdale is a draw for many visitors with England’s highest mountain Scafell Pike and deepest lake Wastwater, the main focus of your role will be in and around our main carpark in Wasdale, helping visitors and enhancing their visit. You will have the opportunity to experience and appreciate the beauty and breath taking scenery of Wasdale in all weathers.

What you'll be doing

As the largest conservation charity in Europe we work hard to raise funds, so that we can continue to care for all the heritage in our trust. Visitors are a vital part of what we do, so you’ll be responsible for ensuring that you provide an excellent service to all our visitors, every day.

You will be asked to meet and greet our visitors and sell membership, as well as work to sales targets. A key part of the role will be ensuring that the site and facilities are kept looking at their best to provide the best visitor welcome that we can. When interacting with our visitors you will be informing them of the amazing work that we are doing to and what their money will be funding both locally and nationally.

Who we're looking for

To be fantastic in this role you’ll need:

  • Genuine enthusiasm for working with people
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • The ability to work to sales targets, and confidently sell our membership benefits
  • Good understanding of the National Trust and what we do
  • A willingness to learn new skills, and a can do attitude
  • Experience of working in a customer service or sales team
  • Some cash handling experience
