Medical Secretary - Ophthalmology, Central London

Our clients are a private eye clinic in central London. They are seeking a medical secretary to join their team. This will be a full time permanent role.

Responsibilities:

  • Help develop the private practice and to support and assist with the promotion of the services offered
  • Managing all types of patient and Consultant correspondence
  • To act as a first point of contact for patients via face to face, telephone and email
  • To manage the secretarial workload for the practice and provide a professional response to all enquiries
  • Diary management
  • Updating patient information and preparing patient files
  • Processing clinic letters and reports
  • Tracking patient referrals, investigations and test results
  • Running clinics and making patients aware if any delays arise
  • To ensure that all patients are aware of their responsibilities regarding payment of fees and the provision of medical insurance details if appropriate
  • Patient billing, invoicing and taking payments
  • Liaising with insurance companies and embassies
  • Credit control for unpaid invoices

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous private medical secretarial experience is essential
  • Experience in Ophthalmology is desirable
  • IT literate (including Excel and Word)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work unsupervised and generate own correspondence

Hours: Monday - Friday. The hours of work are flexible between 08.30 - 18:00

Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 per annum
