Job Summary

Capita has a new part time job (two days a week) as an Auditor who will undertaking audits on registered clinics that service rail contractors by testing employees for drugs and alcohol. You will travel across the county to each clinic on a yearly basis to ensure that they maintain the correct standards.

About the Job

You will be Responsible for undertaking audits on registered RISQS suppliers who undertake medical assessment services and/or deliver effective Alcohol and Drugs screening services to companies in accordance to Network Rail standards & Railway Group Standards.

You will be a competent person who is able to plan, execute and prepare audit reports across the UK. This is a travelling role so you must be willing to cover the whole of the UK.

Your usual two day week will consist of you traveling and Auditing on your first day and spending the second either completing the audits or writing up reports from your findings.

You are required to be independent of auditees and take a systematic approach following a documented approach in obtaining evidence and making an objective evaluation to determine whether a specified criteria is fulfilled.

Your key duties will be:

  • Schedule work diary and agree available audit dates using an online system
  • Following an audit protocol including confirming arrangements to audit suppliers
  • Audit against a set criteria and make justifiable judgments on the evidence provided
  • Provide audit opening statements, feedback, commentary and close out statements to the supplier being audited as required
  • Provide timely reports within an internet based system

About your Team

The Scheduling Team based in Glasgow will help on a daily basis by booking in your audits and provide you with direct assistant. The Technical Leads will be your line managers and work with you to create your own development plan and future goals. Your wider auditing team will be there to help and advise on best practice and to have a laugh with you when the Christmas party comes around.

The Ideal candidate

Ideally this role will suite someone with occupational health, nursing, medical fitness assessments or laboratory experience with an understanding of railway standards with regards to Medical, Alcohol and Drugs screening.

You will have some previous experience of auditing or Health & Safety and you will have the key qualification know as Lead Auditor ISO9001 (one week course). You will also have a working understanding of the Implementation and management of quality management systems in a clinical, phlebotomy, laboratories or medical environment and an understanding of Health & Safety regulations and legal requirements and standards as outlined by ISO9001 standards.

Requirements - (Must have)

You will need to have some form of medical or occupation health qualification and an interest in auditing. A stable work history and experience in a position of authority.

We will provide training for the Lead Auditor ISO9001 certificate if you do not have it. This is an opportunity to start a new career but it will be your responsibility to research Health & Safety standards and auditing best practice before you begin with us. We of course will provide you with support throughout the process in the form of documents, tips, hints and one on one chats but it will be you who will need to take the initiative and have the passion to take up our challenge and learn to be an auditor.
