£33,000 - £34,000 Plus fantastic benefits package
Working for one of the UK's largest Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) contractors with a product/service portfolio ranging from M&E LV, HV, Instrumentation, Street Lighting, Facilities Management through to Combined Heat and Power solutions. Due to a number of recent contract wins and a growing order book, we are currently looking to increase the size of our Mechanical team and have an exciting opportunity for a knowledgeable and experienced Technician/Supervisor to strengthen our Mechanical team and manage sub-contract labour.
As Mechanical Supervisor, your role will involve managing a team of Operatives (including sub or preferred contractors) by applying quality procedures, safe working practices and effective planning. You'll ensure completion of work in a timely and cost-effective manner, as well as demonstrating exceptional technical skill, ability and competence beyond that of an Advanced Craftsperson. You will help support Contractors, Apprentices and Trainees and provide regular progress reports to the relevant Line Managers.
To be successful in applying for this role, you will have acquired extensive practical knowledge as an Advanced Craftsperson, including experience as a 'leading hand'. A proven track record for consistently delivering projects is essential.
Ideally, you'll have successfully completed a recognised Apprenticeship or training programme in a relevant trade, having acquired or developed technical competence to the required standard. You will have commercial gas training and experience, including knowledge of different pipe systems and their application. A wider general knowledge of HVAC systems and some general electrical knowledge would be an advantage. You'll have completed your SMSTS course in Commercial Gas, and have experience in undertaking surveys and take-offs, as well as assisting in pricing, planning and ordering materials. Accreditations in Asbestos Awareness, First Aid, Domestic Gas, Unvented, IPAF and PASMA would be beneficial.
