Acorn is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter for our client based at a COMAH 1 Refinery Facility in Swansea. This is an on-going position which may lead to a permanent appointment.

The successful candidate will have gained an apprenticeship, and a proven track record as a Mechanical Fitter in a heavy industry environment, ideally with experience of rotational machinery.

A Mechanical Fitter is accountable for the safe and efficient maintenance of all plant and equipment within the Process Extraction area. The role supports the production units by utilising specialist knowledge and skill to undertake scheduled and corrective Maintenance work as well as responding to breakdowns during normal and outside normal working hours (call-in rota).

The role requires the ability to work at height and in confined spaces together with the wearing of BA equipment to facilitate entry when necessary. You must demonstrate your ability to work safely, have a flexible approach towards work, along with a strong work ethic.

A good working knowledge of Safe Systems of Work along with the ability to champion safety in the workplace is a key requirement for this role. Continuous Improvement is an important factor within the maintenance team to continue to be successful and deliver quality services to its customers, therefore the successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate their commitment to CI.

We also expect the successful candidate to champion our behavioural standards.
