Job Title : Mechanical Fitter
Our client based in Huddersfield is privately owned and have been a market leader in their industry for over 100 years.
The role requires a high degree of flexibility and adaptability to handle the varied tasks that often arise from assembly and refurbishment projects. When necessary, the MF is expected to work the necessary hours to complete a project on time.
- Inspection, measurement and reporting
Precision fitting of intricate components, e.g. bearings, bushes, seals etc.
Basic testing and mechanical fault finding of machinery
Understanding of issued associated with re-use of components in terms of safety and reliability
Gain a basic understanding of motors, drives and instrumentation
Understand the safe operation of machinery, e.g. guarding, interlocks, vibration etc.
Visit customers' sites for the purposes of installation, commissioning or refurbishment
Work unsupervised using own initiative
Maintain accurate records of activities and expenses
Participation in self / colleague inspection including non-destructive testing, such as dye penetrant testing, when required
Gain a working understanding of the WinMan computer system to check that the correct issue drawings are being used
Advise supervision of problems encountered during the assembly process, including method or design issues using the QC1 continuous improvement forms and database
- Advise supervision of defective or problematic equipment or tooling
You will be apprentice trained and working on rotating machinery and gearboxes, operating a dynamic balancing machine and involved with general repair,machine building and refurb of machinery.
Any machining skills,fettling,or drilling experience would be beneficial.
Working day shift of Mon - Thurs 7.30 am - 4 pm and Fri 12.30 pm with overtime available.
This is a temporary to permanent position.
