Working for a prestigious aerospace company specialising in the Design and Manufacture of bespoke flight training systems for the international aviation industry.
Experienced and confident Mechanical Design Engineer designing detailed mechanical systems using intelligent 3D CAD Packages. Reporting to the Head of Engineering and having accountability to the Project Team Lead for the technical development and progress for assigned tasks; the individual shall work as part of a team and be responsible for the production of product design documentation including compliancy with safety standards.
The role includes production of drawings and creation of parts lists.
Duties and responsibilities
*Producing compliant designs that are economical and safe to manufacture, inspect/test and maintain whilst meeting the minimum standard of fit for purpose.
*Mechanical design and production of mechanical part, assemblies and drawings
*Producing 2D detailed manufacturing drawings using 3D CAD.
*Creation of parts lists and data entry into a database.
*Materials and component selection.
*Maintenance of effective records of design compliancy, technical calculations and source data.
*Liaison with in-house production team, subcontractors and suppliers as appropriate to develop design solutions.
*Creation of Technical Specifications
Working knowledge and experience
*Designing and detailing mechanical assemblies, structures, enclosures.
*Designing for ease of manufacture.
*Understanding ISO standards relevant to drawings and geometric tolerances, material and finish specifications.
*Minimum ONC Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with at least 5 years' experience in a design and manufacturing environment.
*Competent and proficient user of SolidWorks 2010 3D CAD onwards.
*Good communicator and ability to work as part of a design team.
*Motivated with a positive attitude and ensuring tasks are accurately performed and completed on time.
*Attention to detail with excellent data management and configuration control.
*Time served engineering apprenticeship advantageous
*Competent and proficient use of AutoCAD / DraftSight 2D CAD.
*Finite Element Analysis experience preferably using Solidworks simulation
*Good office computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel useful.
