Mechanical Design Engineer

Meridian Business Support is actively recruiting for an experienced Mechanical bias Design Engineer for our Industrial Client in Cardiff.

Reporting to the Engineering Director, the position will require an energetic, innovative Engineer who will deliver New Product Development tasks, creating product development ideas and taking ownership through to delivery.

This position is a hands on, pure Engineering role which will require a flexible approach. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working on concepts, calculations, detailed design and product testing and will be positive in challenging convention but also working within a structured development routine.

The role will include working with customers, potential technology partners and suppliers to develop bespoke and new solutions.

Key day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Project planning
  • Preparation of bill of materials
  • Detail design work
  • Design analysis, Finite element analysis and Torsional vibration analysis
  • Theoretical design work & testing
  • Compilation of product/design specifications
  • Collaboration with production engineering
  • Supporting work as required

To be considered for this role, you will have a Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and already be an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a positive and 'can do' problem solving attitude. You will have extensive project management experience coupled with 3D modelling, Finite Element and Torsional Vibrating analysis experience.
