ROLE- Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION- Cambridge

TERM- Permanent

SALARY- £35,000- £45,000 per annum (Please advise what you're looking for)

My client design and manufactures a range of high-performance electro-mechanical equipment for different industries and they are looking to take on a Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis in the Cambridge area.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Ideally 5 or more years' experience working within a similar design position using SolidWorks CAD software
  • Previous experience working on the design of electro-mechanical products
  • Strong knowledge mechanical, electronics and mathematical principles
  • Good understanding of tooling/ mould design and polymer components
  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
  • The ability to work well alone as well as part of a small team

As the Mechanical Design Engineer your main duties will include:

  • Working with a product development multi-disciplinary team
  • Enhancing the companies range of products
  • Producing designs for electro-mechanical devices using SolidWorks
  • Ensuring continuous improvement or products and also design processes
  • Being involved in all aspects of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process
  • Project management ensuring projects are delivered on time
  • Being involved with prototyping and testing
  • Supporting other colleagues within the team where needed
