Citi Recruit is looking for a competent Mechanical Buyer to join a inovative, continually developing engineering company in Maidstone.

The Mechanical Buyer is responsible for ensuring the best price and credit terms are achieved by completing monthly supplier comparisons.
This role requires collating data supplied by both the products team and Energy Services team to ensure stock is available and ready for the required date needed.

The Mechanical Buyer role involves being vigilant of changes in the market which will have an impact on stock prices. This role requires flexibility and a good eye to detail and requires a forward thinking talented individual who is able to be a flexible worker.

You will be working in a fast-paced environment where a keen eye to detail is required at all times. On a regular basis you will be communicating with a wide range of personnel therefore interpersonal skills are crucial in this role.

The Mechanical buyer requires a strong understanding of all areas within the business and a high level of confidentiality is required due to the nature of the role.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities of the Mechanical Buyer

  • Manage forecasts.

  • Manage project information and EES reactive requirements to ensure stock levels and accounts are both maintained effectively.

  • Be reactive to changing requirements and ensure that other members in the procurement team are aware of what is going on.

  • Look for a variety of supplier options and backup routes to use if needed.

  • Liaise with accounts re invoices and aged debtor reports.

  • Manage products staff and instruct with regards to the following; direct deliveries, stock replenishment, item creation, account management and intercompany returns.

  • Maintain price sheet for goods in and sending out a weekly update in particular goods that are impacted by currency fluctuation.

  • Carry out any new member training regarding system usage and work flow.

  • Review every month with products and every quarter with Energy Services minimum/maximum stocks in accordance with requirements.

  • Maintain communication lines to all companies in order to prevent disruptive ad hoc visits to the products team.

  • Ensure that new suppliers are audited for suitability in particular modules and inverters in order to protect us from fraud and theft and to comply with all regulations.

  • Ensure that all relevant documentation is sent to accounts.

  • Meet new suppliers on a regular basis to build a strong working relationship

  • Meet with current suppliers to manage and develop existing relationships

  • Purchase plumbing and heating materials

  • Consolidate the best possible market price

  • Consolidate with distributors, sales reps and other parties

  • Run inventory checks on stock to absorb landed materials

  • Identify any missing items and to make appropriate changes where required

  • Prepare credit returns for the accounts department

  • Coordinate deliveries to sites with site managers or other managers

  • Liaise with site managers in order to ensure that reactive orders are placed in an appropriate time scale to meet deadlines and demands of the business.

  • Maintain high communication levels with reporting line manager and all other members of staff
