Undertake appropriate preparation, testing, and analysis of components, metals, associated products, and processes. Investigate and report on metallurgical condition of components.
Provide guidance on raw Material purchase and acceptance.
Provide materials advice and guidance on the machining and processing (both in house and at suppliers) of products manufactured by the company. A knowledge of any of the following areas: stainless steels, nickel-based alloys, aluminium alloys, titanium alloys, machining (milling, turning, grinding, etc.), heat treatment, hard facing, EDM, forging, casting, welding, brazing, electroplating, powder metallurgy, MIM, surface enhancement, solid film lubricants, flame, plasma and diffusion coatings would be considered advantageous.
Minimum 2nd class degree or equivalent in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, or Metallurgy / consideration will be given to Scientific degrees (Physics/Chemistry) were appropriate experience can be demonstrated.
3-5 years previous metallurgical and materials testing and analysis experience in the Aerospace, Power Generation industry, Medical, Nuclear, or Automotive manufacturing or research and development would be considered advantageous.
Experience in metallurgical aspects of casting, forging or precision machining industries would be advantageous.
A high level of computer literacy and communication skills (English verbal and written) are essential for this role as Lab reports and presentations of findings are required on a daily basis.
Knowledge of a second language would be considered advantageous
