Materials Controller

We are currently recruiting for a very well established organisation that are seeking to recruit an individual with skills and experience in materials handling, supply chain and procurement to join them as a Materials Controller. The role will require you to be responsible for the end to end management of securing the supply of parts from an international supplier base in a timely and cost efficient manner to meet the needs of the business.

Duties will include:

  • Controlling the sourcing, purchasing, warehousing, storage and distribution processes in the most efficient manner and within set budgets
  • First point of contact for the resolution of issues to ensure continual flow of material into the business
  • Build supplier relationships to establish mutually beneficial supplier contracts
  • Supplier relationship management - Offer rebates on spend threshold
  • Demand planning - using MRP, KANBAN, JIT
  • Responsible for New Product Introduction from a materials perspective
  • Communicating the status of materials within the total supply chain to the wider business
  • Analysing data and producing accurate reports
  • Introducing cost reduction and lead time initiatives
  • Attend regular inter-departmental scheduling meetings
  • Preparation of the Purchasing budget and control expenditure
  • Reviewing SAP purchase requests to maintain agreed stock levels.
  • Secure highest accuracy of all supply chain related SAP data
  • Inventory management alongside the Stock Controller such as forecasting, demand profiling and inventory reduction
  • Provide forecast to suppliers to keep stock of the forecast, reduce lead time implement KANBAN at their site, offer vendor managed inventory or consignment stock, lock the price for the year
  • Implement measures to ensure stock control, relevance and tracking
Skills and experience:
  • Previous experience of the above duties (supply chain and materials control)
  • Buying/purchasing experience will be a distinct advantage
  • CIPS qualification would be highly desirable
  • Good PC skills with experience of using SAP
  • WMS and JD Edwards experience would be beneficial
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • You will ideally be educated to degree level
  • An analytic approach to problem solving
  • Strong organisational skills
  • A good thinker and active listener
  • Good time management skills
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to quickly learn about new processes
