Marketing Manager- Exhibitions Industry - LONDON - £35K - £40K + BONUS

The 11 specific expectations for the role

1. Purpose of the role, key deliverables, responsibilities: "What does not happen if role does not exist?"

  • Development of marketing concepts for event cluster: targets, strategies and marketing mix (channels) including features
  • Coordinates & ensures the 360° comms plan implementation, monitors KPIs and drafts reports for line management, controls marketing budget
  • In charge of the promotion of marketing objectives and developing industry knowledge: the planning, controlling and realization of all marketing activities and (if applicable) make sure the whole marketing team gets there: mentor, train, coach, coordinates work of Cluster Marketing Coordinator (if applicable)
  • In charge of the data development, all statistical analysis, conferences management, registration, Learnshops, side events, ...and of the branding of the shows

2. Management of resources (team(s), budget, other resources):

  • Responsibility & controlling of the marketing budget & schedule
  • Coaches Cluster Marketing Coordinator(s)

3. Delegation of authority, decision making:

Propose the marketing strategy for the event and validate it with Head of Cluster

4. Primary internal work relations

Head of Cluster, Sales Team, Data Coordinator, Cluster Marketing Coordinator, Accounting, Operations

5. Primary external work relations

Agencies (including PR), Associations, Sector organizations, Media partners, Customers (exhibitors & visitors), Speakers, Consultants ...

6. Main processes, systems, tools used

EVMS & NAV, CMS, PR (press releases), Microsoft Office Suite, registration system; Smart Focus; Social Media Tools, Google Analytics, App

7. Three performance indicators: "How would you describe an outstanding performance in this role?"

  • Perform constantly above set objectives (visitors, exhibitors, conference attendees, keynote speakers)
  • Increase visitor numbers by 20% year on year
  • Create continuous initiatives recognised to bring the Cluster Marketing Coordinator to the next level, maintain a motivated & efficient marketing team

8. Three expected deliverables by the end of the first three months

  • Complete understanding of company organisation, processes and be able to operate all the company marketing tools & resources
  • Identify and meet key stakeholders in the market including key media partners, associations and accounts
  • Present a first formal SWOT action plan on events served

9. Education and Qualifications

Ideally Bachelor in Business, Marketing or any other related field

10. Experience (professional or industry knowledge, level of expertise,...)

  • Experience of at least 2/3 years in marketing, among which 2 in events marketing, big picture thinking, adaptability, resilience, excellent coaching, communication, presentation and organisational skills, natural authority, experience in leading people, excellent capacity to interact with all levels

11. Knowledge of languages

English

7. PROBLEM SOLVING:

Expected to solve problems usually of a tactical nature in order to resolve broader operational issues. Generates innovative solutions within learned fields of activities.

8. TIME SPAN OF CONTROL:

Usually up to 6 months.

9. QUALITY REFLEX, CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT, INNOVATION:

Constantly looking for improvement opportunities. Able to produce documented processes.

10. COACHING AND PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

Ability to take a leading role in delivering on team goals. (Heads team(s) with homogeneous activities; often with several similar roles)

11. PROJECT MANAGEMENT:

Heads one or more 6-12 months’ project(s) in complex technical areas with at least one influencing factor (financial, operational or people). Team members are normally experts from one or more technical domains.
