Marketing Assistant/Executive - Scientific

These positions are office-based in Cambridgeshire, working for a growing scientific company, that sell a range of antibodies, protein labelling, DNA and RNA products, western blotting, protein purification and associated products.

The company have an excellent reputation, have seen double digit growth over the last 3 years and offer great opportunities for internal progression and development.

A scientific background is preferred but not essential, marketing experience is an essential requirement.

Two roles available:

Email Marketing Executive

The email marketing executive is responsible for creating and managing email campaigns in-line with the company’s marketing plan and brand guidelines. This position will include the set up and deployment of individual email marketing campaigns as well as the maintenance and review of templates within the company's marketing automation system.

Digital Marketing Assistant

Working with the Digital Marketing Manager to drive high quality traffic to the company’s website through SEO, PPC and Social media channels to generate high conversion rates and quality leads. This person will need a good digital marketing background with knowledge of SEO, understanding of PPC, excellent copywriting skills as well as CMS experience

1) Email Marketing Executive


Manage email marketing campaigns, including ad hoc email campaigns, and drip-based and trigger automated email communication

Ensure brand consistency across every campaign

Have an input in creating and testing new email marketing templates and direct marketing communication

Analyse and report on the success of varied email marketing campaigns, provide feedback, suggestions and ideas for future campaigns

Ensure accurate and targeted database selection

Assist the wider commercial team with the production of the overall marketing plan for the next year.

Assist with the day to day maintenance and administrative tasks associated with the company’s marketing automation software such as updating images, organisation of lists and campaigns

Assist with the management of the email database, checking the quality of the email addresses

Cleaning up the bounce backs from email marketing campaigns, including updating any changed information of prospects within the database

Person Specification:

A degree or experience working within life sciences is preferred but not essential

Previous experience working within a direct marketing role as well as creating email marketing campaigns is preferred but not essential if you demonstrate the right aptitude to learn.

Self-motivated and independent worker with excellent communication and organisation skills

Experience of working with HTML and using marketing automation platforms such as Pardot, Hubspot, Marketo is desirable but not essential.

2) Digital Marketing Assistant


Work with the marketing team to develop and implement SEO and pay-per-click strategies

Optimise advert campaigns and website pages to increase successful conversation rate and reduce cost per conversion

Produce new advert campaigns in line with the company’s product launch plan

Monitor those campaign results and proactively make strategic pay-per-click campaign recommendations

Assist with the monitoring of budgets and adjusting bids

Weekly review of negative keywords

Conduct keyword research and selection for pay-per-click and SEO projects

Continually work on SEO of the company’s website, identifying existing content and product pages with low quality traffic, reviewing and optimising to increase ranking.

Work with the wider technical marketing team to ensure that all content is SEO friendly prior to publishing

Monitor and analyse the success of content and conversion rates, reporting back to the wider marketing team with suggestions going forward

Increase engagement and brand awareness through regular scheduled social media posts

Innovate and present new marketing platforms and strategies, keep updated with latest trends and developments, as well as assisting with website updates when required.

Person Specification:

A degree or experience working within life sciences is preferred but not essential.

Must have some knowledge of Google Adwords, Bing Ads and Search Engine Optimization

Knowledge of analysing data through platforms such as Google Analytics

Self-motivated, independent and with excellent communication, organizational, copywriting and analytical skills.
