Rifco Theatre Company is looking for an energetic, experienced and creative marketing and communications professional to work with us in our dedicated core team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in reaching new audiences, increasing Rifco’s brand in the national landscape and helping the way we shape our communications to a range of people and customers.
The role has responsibility for good overall internal and external communications including everyone that works for and with Rifco - core staff, freelancers, audiences, organisations that provide funds, donors, venue partners and co-producers. In the context of this role communications includes marketing, press, audience development and brand.
Working closely with the Artistic and Executive Directors the role will contribute to the development of and delivery of communications and marketing strategies that support Rifco’s creative output (productions, tours, R&D activity, digital content, Associates), audience development, brand awareness and income generation strategies.
Artistic Director, Pravesh Kumar founded Rifco in Slough in 1999 and quickly gained a reputation for making vibrant, accessible, high quality work that attracted a British Asian audience to regional theatres for the very first time. Since 2011, Rifco has been the Resident Company at Watford Palace Theatre (WPT) and is an Arts Council England funded National Portfolio Organisation with additional investment secured from 2018-22.
The company is currently refreshing its brand and re-developing its website and from early 2018, the company will be known as Rifco Theatre Company and define its work through four strands: Rifco Theatre Company, Rifco Digital, Rifco Associates and Rifco Studio.
Rifco creates new work, both plays and musicals that reflect and celebrate contemporary British Asian experiences, culture and society. A common theme is family but the work has also explored honour, identity, arranged marriage and gender equality issues.
The job is based at Watford Palace Theatre, however, the nature of the company means that some travel across the UK will be necessary. Watford is close to A1/M1, M25 and the closest station is Watford Junction (15-18 mins from London Euston)
Normal hours of work are 40 per week, however, staff will be required to work flexibly as required by the programme on some evening and weekends.
