Working with experts in the Balancing and Settlement Code, the Market Analyst will ensure that obligations are met in live operation. Developing as an expert in the energy market and Balancing and Settlement Code, you will progressively support other areas delivered by the Market Analysis Team and Operations Department. You will support and deliver issue resolution services relating to the rules, systems and processes that govern the operation of the electricity trading arrangements. Key responsibilities:

  • To provide specialist advice and support both internally and to a wide breadth of stakeholders that include but are not limited to Electricity Generators, Suppliers, Agents , Traders, The Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem) and Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC)
  • Analyse settlement data to identify operational issues and provide advice to the Market Analysis Manager. Undertake pieces of analysis to review the performance of calculation parameters
  • Provide training on the GB Electricity Trading Arrangements to customers, industry groups and staff
  • Delivery of functions in agreed timescales and to agreed quality expectations
  • Identification of anomalies in Settlement Data, timely escalation of anomalies, ownership of issues to resolution
  • Delivery of role in accordance with company values - Teamwork, Curiosity, Respect, Innovation and Excellence as per the values matrix
  • Successfully deliver demand lead projects and /or, units of work within time and to the required quality standard. Units of work will be assigned by the Market Analysis Manager
  • Identify and propose process improvements to deliver better value for our customers
  • Identify and discuss development areas with manager on a monthly basis
  • Deliver role with a positive attitude and in accordance with customer service standards
  • Identify purpose and values of the work undertaken as a benefit to the industry

Skills and experience required:

  • At least three A-Levels grade A*-C in numerate or IT related subjects
  • GCSE grades A*-B in Mathematics, English and Science
  • Experience in delivering good customer service
  • Be a Self-Starter with a real 'can do’ attitude
  • Be proficient in the use of various data processing tools and techniques
  • Be interpersonally astute
  • Good nonverbal and verbal skills
  • Be a strong team player
  • Good verbal and written English
