Marine Mechanical Parts Adviser - 6 months FTC - Immediate Start

Posted 5 April by Newman Shearing Recruitment Ended

6 months fixed term contract with possible extension. Immediate start.

Our client is a supplier of marine engine parts carrying one of the largest parts inventories in the UK. They are looking for someone to join their enthusiastic team in Poole to work with customers, in providing them with technical and parts advice to solve their mechanical issues (training will be given in this area). Also, to assist in the research of new products, maintaining an accurate stock room and online inventory.

For this role to be suitable for you, you should have:

  • Good general mechanical knowledge: you know your way around an engine! Training will be given in Marine specific parts, although there are a lot of similarities with car engines.
  • IT skills: able to research engine parts via the internet and trade catalogues. Ability to interpret engine mapping diagrams.
  • Excel, Word and database skills: able to produce quotes and process orders via our ordering system. Accuracy in spelling and numeracy skills will be needed here.
  • Strong customer facing skills: You will be dealing with customers and suppliers on the phone, and also customers in the shop. A positive 'can-do’ approach is required at all times, and a willingness to build good relationships with everyone you deal with.

Overall, you will be a personable, roll your sleeves up kind of person, who isn’t afraid to take on board new information. A passion for engines would be a huge bonus!

If this sounds like your ideal next role, please get in touch!
