Manufacturing Shift Leader

This position is responsible for managing the daily activities of the entire manufacturing area. The position will have overall responsibility for approximately 80 team members to ensure on a shift by shift basis all requirements of the business are met.

Responsible for ensuring that the Manufacturing Department is a safe environment for all employees.

Responsible for ensuring overall product quality meets the expected requirements. To achieve this, the position is responsible for ensuring all processes, equipment, documentation and training are appropriate, compliant and safe.

Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines and people resources. Analyses and develops capacity plans in conjunction with the shop floor leaders to support business requirements.

Drives root cause and corrective action within the Manufacturing Department for issues affecting performance.

Ensures all equipment and processes have appropriate risk assessments in place, which are reviewed on at least an annual basis and that open actions are closed out in an appropriate and timely manner.

Leads process improvement activity with other members of the Manufacturing department in support of KPI's and company goals.

Recommends budgets to management understands Manufacturing Department performance-to-budget.

Owns & Reports on the Daily, weekly & Monthly deliverables (KPI's), monitors and leads action when required to ensure commitments against deliverables are met.

Responsible for commitment to and delivery against the short term plan in conjunction with the production control team.

Requirements for the role

A HND, or other higher level education path, preferably in Engineering is preferred and/or relevant work experience within an engineering environment.

Previous management experience of small to medium sized teams, with a record of team building will be advantageous.

Experience of working with continuous improvement tools and techniques coupled with the above is important these to include 5S, CAPA, RCA, VoE and TPS.

Knowledge of engineering principals within a machine shop environment or similar would be advantageous.

Experience of audits and the strict regulatory requirements.
