Manufacturing Engineer

Circa £43k plus benefits - based in Hereford

Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Lead, the Manufacturing Engineer will provide technical support, identify and implement improvements in manufacturing processes to optimise process performance and capability and minimise rejections and 'special cause’ events. Working for the world’s leading innovator and manufacturer of nickel-based superalloys - we are looking for an ambitious Manufacturing Engineer to fit in with the current remit and succession planning moving forward - this is an employer and a role with genuine and achievable prospects.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Develop an understanding and appreciation of lean manufacturing
  • Work with Operations and Quality to deliver a fully optimised process that is efficient, productive and capable
  • Lead the planning and coordination of manufacturing techniques and support justification for alternate methods to reduce costs
  • Champion continuous improvement
  • Work with management team and operators to establish a "right first time" quality approach, and customer focus
  • Establish specifications and process acceptance criteria for machines & equipment
  • Establish robust manufacturing systems and procedures
  • Lead the introduction of process control data capture & visualisation within the operations team, utilising the data to form deliverable projects
  • Support project management value stream on all new key projects where required
  • Drive resolutions to shop floor process problems with regards to process, strategy and hardware
  • Interact with the operations department on technical, process, & quality related issues
  • Write Standard Operating Procedures and maintain SOP database
  • Coaching and training, to ensure the successful implementation of a culture of waste identification and elimination through the deployment of lean tools and principles
  • Run continuous improvement activities in line with agreed plans
  • Identify areas for improvement and produce realistic and coherent improvement plans

APPLICANT MINIUMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 5 years previous demonstrable Manufacturing Engineering experience working within a business that produces precision engineered products, in a highly regulated industry, e.g. Aerospace or Oil & Gas sectors
  • Minimum - HNC in Engineering Discipline OR BTEC with supporting experience and qualifications (EG, Six Sigma)
  • Knowledge of implementing lean manufacturing techniques and tools
  • A proven track record of driving out waste and cost within a business
  • Experience of developing/ implementing visual data capture and reporting mechanisms

This role would suit someone who has worked in a similar manufacturing role before, or, we will consider applications from a more recent graduate with practical experience (a year in industry) within a manufacturing or engineering environment (salary will alter according to experience)

PACKAGE: c£43,000 (negotiable dependent upon experience), quarterly bonuses + pension scheme, life insurance, 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays). Employer of choice with outstanding prospects
