MANUFACTURING ENGINEER (CIRCA £37K)

We are currently working with a Manufacturing business who are currently looking to recruit a manufacturing engineer in a new role. The ideal candidates will have experience of working in a similar role.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifying areas of opportunity as well as maximising safety, quality, cost and delivery improvements
  • Implement process and productivity improvements through lean, investment and through facilitation of HPT activities
  • Identify capital and revenue investments in conjunction with the business Operations
  • Create capacity statements in line with investment plans and value stream transformations
  • Support new product introductions in conjunction with the Product Management team
  • To be responsible for developing the business’s Lean capability through training of team members and implementation of processes and tools
  • Develop Standard work standards and line balancing for productivity improvements
  • Develop operating instructions and equipment specifications for production activities
  • Participate in complaint investigation and resolution
  • Implement process and product changes and improvements in manufacturing to approved MCRs
  • Lead equipment training and retraining within production
  • Support investigation into equipment issues
  • Maintaining & Creation SOPs and setting charts
  • Coaching and supporting the Production team
  • To co-ordinate the technical and lean activities of a team comprising
  • To maximise productivity and meet customer requirements through supporting the achievement of key metrics
  • To support the Operations Manager in the continuous improvement of the manufacturing area
  • Actively support the development of the location and its team
  • Create improvement plans in line with strategy deployment and market driven strategies
  • Develop and maintain SOPs and setting charts to ensure SQDC standards are maintained

Personal Specification:

  • Qualified to HNC or degree level in an engineering or manufacturing related subject
  • Formally trained in lean techniques and demonstrated skill set
  • Previous process engineering experience working in a medium volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience in implementing capital projects
  • Proven ability to lead teams in improvement activities
  • Capability to apply planning, project management and problem-solving tools to generate improvements
  • Decision making to consider relative costs to potential actions
  • Good attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
