DDD Limited is a long-established family company operating within the health and beauty market. DDD has four established operating units, encompassing manufacture, sales and marketing, Export and pharmaceutical testing, and has just launched a new e-commerce business selling personalised body and bath gifts. DDD owns a number of well-known health and beauty brands itself, including Dentinox, Snufflebabe, Astral and Dentyl, but the majority of its business is working with third party brand owners.
Trinity Scientific is DDD’s contract laboratory division, with a dozen employees. Trinity was set up in 2012, to fill a market niche for a contract laboratory specialising in great customer service. Trinity provides testing (raw materials and finished product), method development and validation and stability services to a range of customers from sectors including branded pharmaceuticals, specials, generics and fine chemicals. Sales are growing quickly, with the customer service positioning resonating with customers, and helped by a proactive sales effort, growing customer awareness and customer recommendation.
The current head of Trinity has been with the business from the start, but as a natural entrepreneur, is leaving to pursue his own business opportunities. We need someone to build on Trinity’s success and take it to the next level.
The successful individual will have extensive commercial experience in a technical or pharmaceutical environment, as well as being an effective manager and leader. They will have experience of creating and delivering strategies, and will buy in to our approach to strategy, and enhance it with their own experiences, learnings and strategic thinking.
They will also:
- Be commercially and financially astute, and have a proven record of sales growth;
- Be obsessive about delivering great customer service;
- Be a strong people manager, able to coach and develop team members;
- Be resilient and robust;
- Provide both effective challenge and support;
- Have a broad knowledge of best practice across sales and business in general;
- Be a team player with a low ego;
- Be clear and analytical in their thinking, and be able to help individuals and teams think at their best; and
- Be driven by strong shared values.
Ultimately, we are looking for the individual who can have the biggest impact on the performance of our business.
The primary role consists of leading a business of 12 people. This includes:
- A lab team of 9, headed by a Lab manager;
- A QA team of 2; and
- A business development manager.
IT, HR, Finance and Logistics are provided by the Group.
