Manager

Manager - Godalming

£27,000 - £30,000

Members

  • Oversee provision of a range of activities and entertainments
  • Manage communications with members, including weekly news sheet and special notices
  • Oversee arrangements for all holidays and outings
  • Liaise with members/carers as necessary
  • Respect members and their individual needs
  • Interact with members and make them feel welcome
  • Encourage, meet and assess the needs of potential new members
  • Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams and voluntary organisations
  • Promote the services and facilities of the business to the community

Volunteers

  • Chair Volunteers meetings.
  • Work to:
      • Recruit new volunteers and give them relevant information
      • Support all volunteers
      • Manage volunteers and their roles within the business, including Volunteer induction and DBS check

Staff

  • Carry out line management duties
  • Carry out annual staff appraisals
  • Liaise with Catering & Maintenance Manager to ensure compliance with kitchen safety rules by staff and volunteers

Transport

  • Organise and manage drivers’ rotas
  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety, legal and insurance requirements and regulations

Fundraising

  • Liaise with the Chairman of the Fundraising and Promotions teams and assist in promotion of events
  • Obtain licences when required and record and check external applications
  • Organise/attend some Fundraising and Promotional events
  • Undertake the arrangements for periodical fairs with the Volunteers

Maintenance of the Property

  • Oversee security of the property
  • Ensure annual insurances for property, equipment, motors and liability are up to date and index-linked
  • Ensure that the business has up to date policies and satisfies all legal, Health & Safety and insurance requirements and Fire regulations

Hiring of the building and facilities

  • Manage contractual requirements of regular hirers
  • Manage contractual requirements of office rental
  • Co-ordinate events with the Catering Manager and the Caretaker
  • Co-ordinate one off room hires.
  • Manage the requirements of the Premises Licence

General Management

  • Report to and attend meetings of the Board of Trustees
  • Be responsible to the Board of Trustees for all operations in the business
  • Report to Waverley Borough Council as required by the Service Level Agreement.
  • Work with the Finance Director to manage all costs within a budget which you will assist in setting.
  • Overseeing financial control to ensure that all cash receipts and expenditure are properly authorised, recorded and reported.
  • Participate in Operations/Promotions Committee meetings
  • Present a report to the AGM
  • Ensure good communications with Trustees, Hirers, Waverley Borough Council Officers and Managers of other Social Centres
  • Ensure that at least one of the Management team is on duty whenever the business is open to members.
  • Manage holiday rotas to ensure that only one member of the management team is on leave at any one time

Ideally you will:

  • Have experience of the voluntary community sector
  • Be dedicated, organised, reliable and inclusive in your approach
  • Have excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills
  • Have good IT skills and confidence in computer work
