Manager (Marine Services)

Applicants are invited to apply for the above vacancy within the Marine Department, based at the Port of Sheerness. This role will consider flexible working.

Role Purpose: To assist in ensuring compliance with Port Marine Safety Code in the Statutory Harbour area for Medway. To manage the VTS operations and Mooring services.


This role will include the following responsibilities:
-Ensure compliance with Port Marine Safety Code
-Deputy to the Harbour Master
-Ensure compliance with the Marine Safety Management System
-Assist in Management of the Vessel Traffic Systems and Mooring Services at Medway
-Manage Medway Safety Systems
-Incident, near Miss, investigation and development of risk assessments
-Assist with Commercial and Project work
-Be involved with the training regime
-Support and audit the wider Peel Ports Group
-Liaise with Medway stakeholders
-Report specific strategic recommendations to the Port Director and Group Harbour Master
-Ensure delivery of productivity and cost performance aligned to budgetary controls

Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:
-Extensive experience in a Port Operational Marine role
-Proven experience in Marine Safety and Port legislation environment
-A full valid Driving Licence
-A Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages
-Knowledge and experience of Port Risk and Incident Management System (PRIMS) is ideal
-5 A*-C GCSEs or equivalent qualifications, including Math and English
-Marine qualification or degree level or equivalent
