A leading international waste business is looking to recruit a number of Mechanical Maintenance Technicians (with some electrical knowledge) or Multi-skilled Engineers to work as part of teams at waste handling facilities in Cumbria.
Working as part of a small team, you must be flexible with your approach, be capable of working both supervised and unsupervised, being proactive and reactive towards your work, and be willing to perform tasks outside of the role description, including some weekend working as required.
This role works on a rotating shift pattern, Monday to Friday, including days, lates and nights.
*Providing support to all operations.
*Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance practices.
*Carrying out plant upgrades and modifications to the required standards.
*Reporting through computerised maintenance management system all work carried out.
*Development and implementation of a programme of planned preventative maintenance and inspection to minimise downtime, provide records of recurrent faulting and engineered solutions to these issues.
*Anticipate machine failures and make such changes or recommendations to prevent reoccurrence to reduce downtime to a minimum.
*To be available for planned maintenance shutdown periods (reasonable notice will be given).
*Ensuring H&S standards are strictly maintained and all related documentation is completed.
*Liaising with external contractors on specific repairs/maintenance, including some weekend working.
*Supporting initiatives and being proactive in the development of equipment, practices and systems.
*Implementing and ensuring compliance with all company policies, processes and procedures.
*Undertaking any other such reasonable job related tasks as the Company may require.
The successful candidate will be an experienced Mechanical / Multi-Skilled Engineer working in a process or production environment, with a fault finding and diagnostic approach, reactive breakdown repairs, planned maintenance work orders. A willingness to learn new skills and adapt to a changing environment as required is essential.
An HNC/HND/C+G (or Industry equivalent) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering is preferable but not essential; however your practical experience should be proven, some Electrical principle knowledge would also be advantageous.
You will have a good level of experience working to clearly defined KPIs, and delivering continuous improvement within an operational environment.
Knowledge and practical experience of large Conveyors, Chain Drives, Hydraulics, material Compactors, Shredders, Overhead cranes and Pneumatics is desirable.
Experience of working within a time critical process environment is essential. The candidate will have good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to communicate with others, technical and non-technical. You must possess a valid UK driving licence.
You will ideally have experience working within the waste industry, but experience in other process based industries such as waste water, manufacturing, quarrying, agricultural etc. would be considered. Mobile plant licenses' would be advantageous.
