Applicants are invited to apply for the Maintenance Semi Skilled Operative vacancy within the Engineering Department, based at the Port of Sheerness.

Role Purpose: To support the Business Unit Manager and Team Leaders in their objectives and be responsible for ensuring that day to day maintenance functions within the given role of the business unit, operate safely and efficiently, providing operational areas and the port estate an on-time service.

This role will include the following responsibilities:


-Provide semi-skilled maintenance support and be responsible for a 24 hour, 7 day a week service response at Peel Ports London Medway and associated sites, working within a team carrying out planned and preventive maintenance work as directed
-Work in conjunction with the skilled staff to carry out duties in relation to facilities, infrastructure and associated assets, encompassing various maintenance tasks
-To complete all types of semi-skilled labouring and environmental works as listed on the Asset Register
-Operate plant and machinery as required
-Complete job work orders and input data on the Q4 computerised maintenance system as and when directed
-Work always to the Peel Ports Group safe system of work, delivering a safe working culture
-Use initiative and provide strategic recommendations to solve problems, deliver solutions and help to drive the department forward
-Support team achievement of SLAs and KPIs
-Liaise with the Maintenance Management Team at both local and group levels with regard to statutory compliance

Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:

-Health and Safety, operational and commercial awareness
-Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages
-A full, valid Driving Licence
-Experience and/or demonstrated competences of Maintenance, Procurement and Stores management procedures, processes and systems
-Ability to plan and organise demanding workload
-Plant licences (FLT, Mechanical Sweeper, Backhoe Excavator, Powered Wash Systems (jet wash), trailer towing, Snow Ploughs, Grit Blasting equipment and MEWP licence for working at height are desirable
-Ability to work on own initiative and within a team
-Excellent numerical and analytical skills
-Experience or demonstrated competencies of buildings and civil maintenance
