Macclesfield Campus is a vital part of the AstraZeneca network and is the largest pharmaceutical complex in the UK employing approx. 3000 people across multiple disciplines (manufacturing, supply chain, process development, R&D, IT, ...).  We develop, manufacture and supply life over 20 life-changing and life-saving medicines to patients around the world.  We are currently investing over >$300M in new facilities, designed to meet our future needs.

We are now looking to recruit Maintenance Managers for permanent and Fixed Term Contracts across Manufacturing and Development functions at our Macclesfield campus, who will be responsible for delivering asset performance within a set business area.

As a first line manager, you will coach and support junior engineers, technicians and engineering co-ordinators to achieve world class asset performance through equipment expertise and application of world class asset care processes.

You will carry responsibility for the performance of the asset care processes in terms of asset availability, performance & output quality. You will be accountable for the asset care strategy associated resources.


Ideally with previous experience of working within a regulated environment (pharmaceutical, FMCG, Nuclear & Oil and Gas) you will ensure compliance of yourself and your team to internal and external regulations. This will involve monitoring and maintaining compliance in accordance with cGMP, SHE , SOX and business procedures.

You will hold responsibility for ensuring asset contribution to OEE (availability, performance & quality) is delivered through world class asset care processes and appropriate asset care strategy.

Providing expertise to your given business area regarding assets, asset care, asset performance & variability, you will understand the asset, it’s performance, and how this performance is maintained.

Delivering Asset Care capability to the business area in order to deliver the business strategy you will ensure that you have the right capabilities across all relevant roles in your team. A strong leader you will also optimise performance outcomes of your direct reports and ensures individuals understand the contribution they make.

Experience required:

You will hold a relevant engineering degree (preferred) or recognised engineering training route (e.g. apprenticeship).

Ideally you will have significant & relevant experience of assets & asset care practices within a highly regulated environment.

With previous supervisory experience you will have the ability to lead and motivate your team.

Ideally you will be Chartered or working towards Chartership with an appropriate engineering institution.

These positions are internally aligned to Career Level D.
