Maintenance Fitter

About the Opportunity

We are seeking to appoint a proactive and experienced Maintenance Fitter to support our large manufacturing facility in Sheffield. You will be an integral part of the Engineering team working on plant problems and emergency breakdowns and undertaking specific engineering tasks. The role reports to the Maintenance Manager with operational accountability to the Plant Manager Sheffield Operations.

You should have the ability to lead and role model behaviours in line with the standards of acceptance and in accordance with JELD-WEN values and expectations. It is a challenging role and has a unique opportunity to add some real value to the business. You will be responsible for driving engineering activities towards world-class performance; continuous improvement standard practice. Educate, develop and inspire team members towards betterment and achievement, maintaining and preventative maintenance and dealing with reactive issues. You will collaborate and support a team of multi-skilled maintenance engineers who provide support to the activities ensuring compliance with company legislative requirements across our large site in Woodhouse Mill, Sheffield. You will keep machinery in production, drive departments 5s campaigns and demonstrate 5s expansion as part of daily cadence, Promotes self-improvement, receiving and issuing permits to work and ensure engineering work is carried out to health & safety, environmental and engineering standards. Assisting with the training and coaching with the apprentices, implementation and support of HASSARD assessments. You will also be responsible in supporting management of any specialist sub-contractors required to assist in the maintenance of our assets.

About the Person

We are looking for a candidate with previous maintenance experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment is desirable but not essential. You should have a solid technical background with BETEC level qualifications as a minimum, including having completed a mechanical Apprentership is essential. The ideal candidate should have experience of working on pressure systems and have strong fault diagnosis and ratification skills on mechanical and pneumatic and hydraulics systems with good knowledge of PPM and continuous improvement systems. You should have good IT skills and understand LEAN techniques. You should be flexible to work a three-shift pattern system of days, afters and nights.
