Live in Carer

About the role

Interserve Healthcare in Peterborough is currently looking for a live in carer to work with a gentleman who has suffered a spinal injury. The client is located on the outskirts of Peterborough in the March area.

There is currently another established member of the team who works two weeks on and two weeks off so we are looking for another carer to work alternate fortnights or a week in the alternate fortnight. Due to the client being partially paralysed, we require someone who is fit and healthy to ensure that you can help with moving, handling, repositioning and help with daily exercises.

As a live in carer you will be asked to assist with all aspects of daily living such as providing meals and drinks, assisting with personal care, administering medication and house hold chores. The client has a catheter and stoma which you will be required to be cared for daily so you must ensure that both are clean and free from infection as well as working correctly at all times.

Following skills & experience required:

• 6 months previous care experience - including personal care
• Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and listening
• Have a caring and compassionate attitude
• Can commit to regular hours
• Medication management
• Manual handling

Experience of the following is beneficial but not essential:
• Spinal injury clients
• Stoma care
• Catheter care
