This multinational US engineering firm was founded in 1990, and has grown exponentially since its establishment. Today, the business is listed on the Fortune 500 as one of America's largest companies, and serves clients in more than 150 countries worldwide. The organisation designs, builds, finances and operates infrastructure assets around the globe, for both private and public sector clients. It serves a number of key markets including transportation, oil and gas, energy, facilities, and government. The business requires a paralegal to join on a permanent basis, to support its Claims, Disputes and Litigation Group.
Your new role
You will work closely with the Global Head of Litigation, the Corporate Vice Presidents of Litigation, Senior Corporate Counsel, and other paralegals within the group. You will help to co-ordinate the logging of claims and legal process served on the company, and organise claim and litigation related documents. This will include reviewing claim documents, inputting and tracking claim information in electronic claims management databases, and effectively communicating with company lawyers, external counsel, and others. You will co-ordinate company wide claims, legal budget, insurance and other reporting. You will assist lawyers with the organisation of contract documents and the production of contract summaries. You will also assist with the collation of documentation and core bundles. You will engage with the business on enquiries, and obtain information relating to at risk projects. You will work with lawyers around the world to ensure that claim tracking, legal invoicing and reporting is consistent, and assist with the development and implementation of internal systems aimed at improving the aforementioned. You will organise case documents to help in-house lawyers prepare for meetings, depositions and hearings. You will assist lawyers with the payment of invoices, and help legal staff with internal information requests.
What you'll need to succeed
You have previous paralegal experience in litigation, either in private practice or a large corporation. You take your own initiative to plan and organise, and follow through on tasks. You have strong attention to detail, are self motivated and flexible, and can meet the team's demands in sometimes pressurised environments. You have good verbal and written communication skills, and can manage stakeholders across the business. You have completed your LLB.
