Third Light is a specialist software house, working in the digital media libraries (DAM) space. We operate our own hosting services and are looking for a talented Linux systems engineer, to help us grow our infrastructure and deploy new capacity.
You will work with the Technology Director of the business. You'll be expected to keep growing your skills and exploring new technology. For example, in addition to managing and maintaining existing systems, you will be part of a significant expansion planned in 2018 where a large amount of new server and networking equipment is being deployed. This is your chance to really make a difference, with minimal legacy problems holding back great ideas.
You are not expected to have all of these skills in order to apply for this role.
Broad technical skills which would be relevant to this role include Linux, scripting skills (Perl, Python, Shell, Tcl, etc), Linux packaging (e.g. Debian dpkg), VMWare/Xen virtualisation, IPv6, network routing such as Cisco IOS or Juniper JunOS, IPSEC VPNs, backups/replication, load balancing, nGinx and general microservices architectures (e.g. Kubernetes). Linux is a hard requirement. We use Active Directory but otherwise only make use of desktop Microsoft software.
As well as putting new systems into production, you will need to appreciate the need for high standards of change control, documentation and risk management (for example, quality control, instrumentation, orchestration and platform resilience).
- Possibility of fully-funded training, e.g. Juniper Networks Certification Program
- 25 days annual holiday
- Newly-built modern office environment with excellent facilities, including subsidised cafe
- Bicycle and car parking on site
- Your choice of high-end desktop computer
You must have a full valid driving licence in order to be able to access the racks used in our data centres to deploy new equipment as required
