An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Link Officer to join a leading London Local Authority on a temporary basis. The role is an initial 4 month contract, with option to extend thereafter. The successful candidate will work a 9am - 5pm, Mon - Fri working week, with a competitive hourly rate of £17.17 per hour.

Purpose of the role:


To mitigate the impact of the Government`s Welfare Reform programme by implementing an efficient and proactive resolutions service to affected tenants

To carry out benefit and affordability assessment for affected tenants and provide advice on how to manage the impact of Welfare Reform

To help maintain a panel process, with involvement from all key parties, to ensure that the holistic circumstances of the affected households are determined before resettlement actions or resolutions are implemented

To help optimise income for the Council, especially in relation to risks associated with the full implementation of Universal Credit (UC) and enable successful applications for Alternative Payment Arrangements (APA) and/or Third Party Deductions for vulnerable or struggling tenants

Profile

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Demonstrate an in depth understanding of the implications of Welfare Reform

    Act 2012 and the Localism Act 2012.
  • Working knowledge of Housing Benefit, Universal Credit and other welfare

    benefits.
  • Working knowledge of housing law relating, in particular, to homelessness,

    security of tenure and the rights and duties of private rented sector tenants and

    landlords.
  • Ability to achieve challenging outputs and outcomes relating to Welfare Reform

    mitigation including employability support, debt/money/welfare benefit advice,

    tenancy sustainment and resettlement work.
  • Evidence of effective engagement with stakeholders and partners to achieve

    joined up solutions.
  • Experience of working in a controlled environment and delivering high

    standards of performance.
  • Experience of providing high quality statistical information.
