The Neonatal Unit within Aberdeen Maternity Hospital is a tertiary level 3 referral unit in the North of Scotland. Our service includes 10 ITU cots, 6 HDU and 14 Special Care. The unit is the tertiary centre for the North of Scotland Neonatal network which also has a level 2 centre in Inverness and a level 1 centre in Elgin. Aberdeen’s Neonatal Unit provides a breadth of experience for Neonatal professionals in caring for babies with Surgical, Neurological, Cardiac, Renal and Metabolic disorders as well as those born prematurely. Our professional network excels in maintaining essential links nationally and regionally with all other Neonatal units.
As an Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (ANNP) you will contribute to the delivery of a proactive and responsive high quality Neonatal service, combining nursing and medical duties. You will provide expert clinical care at an advanced level to Neonates and families within Intensive Care, High Dependency and Special Care areas of the Neonatal Unit. You will take total responsibility for a case load of babies in the assessment of care needs and the delivery of optimal care at a level equivalent to that of middle grade medical staff. We are proud of our participation in research cultivating opportunities for innovation, whilst ensuring our care has an evidence based foundation. We are also proud to provide a family integrated nursing care model within the unit which has brought many opportunities for parents to be true partners in their baby’s care. You will be a Registered Adult/Child Nurse/Registered Midwife. It is essential that you are educated to degree level with MSc Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or equivalent, with substantial post registration experience in Neonatal care, along with experience as working as an ANNP. This post is for 37.5 hours per week with a rotational shift pattern. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership.
NHS Grampian is building a new Baird Family Hospital which will house a bespoke Neonatal Unit with 34 cots and a transitional care unit with 10 cots. This will be operational by 2022, such an exciting chapter for Neonates in Aberdeen.
