Level 2 Teaching Assistant required with special educational needs experience

JBD Recruitment are looking to hire a Level 2 Teaching Assistant for an expanding special educational needs school based in Birmingham to join their growing team. The most suitable candidate will be required to start ASAP on a long term, full time basis. The school has been rated "Outstanding" in their last OFSTED report.

Your role will include:

  • Supporting individual and/or class based activities.

  • Supporting children with a range of SEND.

  • Supporting the teacher in the planning, delivery and evaluation of learning activities.

  • Working with the teacher to organise effective learning environments and maintaining appropriate records.

  • Contributing to the management of pupils behaviour.

  • Provide clerical/admin support where necessary.

Skills and experience required for Level 2 SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • NVQ Level 2 qualification.

  • Good numeracy, literacy and ICT skills.

  • Proven 6-month minimum experience of working with children with special educational needs including Autism, severe learning difficulties and sensory impairments.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to relate well and inspire children of all ages and needs.

  • The capacity to identify and target specific, individual needs.

  • Excellent knowledge of the National Curriculum.

  • Manage behaviour effectively whilst building positive relationships with children.

  • Flexible and patient in your approach.

  • Enjoy working with children.
