About the role
We have an exciting opportunity available for a Legal Counsel/Inhouse Counsel to join our team.The role is based within our Shared Service Centre in Wakefield and you will be working for the largest Food Manufacturer in the UK a provider of private label products for major retailers and whose brands include Fox’s Biscuits, Hollands Pies, Green Isle, Matthew Walker Christmas Puddings to name a few. The team is located within Trinity Business Park which is home to our friendly, professional colleagues from Group Functions which includes: Legal, finance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, business accounting, HR, procurement & supply chain, IT and communications.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Legal Counsel/Inhouse Counsel looking for a change and wanting to progress their career to the next level in a challenging and fast-paced environment, or for a Junior Legal Counsel wanting to gain experience with the UK’s Largest Food Manufacturer.
You will provide consistent, practical and commercially focused advice and solutions on the full range of contractual, corporate, competition, IP, disputes, marketing and advertising, regulatory investigations, property and other legal and commercial matters. You will be required to act in the best interests of the Group in all legal matters such that the Group’s best interests are safe guarded and promoted, and to be actively involved in providing legal training to the Group, in order to promote best practice and mitigate risk. You will provide consistent, practical and commercially focused advice and solutions on the full range of contractual, competition, property, IP, disputes, marketing and advertising, regulatory investigations and other legal and commercial matters.

- Qualified Solicitor with practising certificate
- Whilst PQE level is not determinative, a Solicitor circa 2 - 4 years PQE level or above is most likely to be suited to this role
- Ideally with commercial experience and/or secondee or other industry experience
- Ability to work on matters independently, to build relationships and influence internal stakeholders, providing pragmatic, commercial, solution-focussed advice
- Experience of providing training / delivering presentations preferred
- Ability to manage a large work load effectively and efficiently
