The Team:

Our sector is fast moving, technology driven and highly regulated. As a result our legal team enjoys the challenge of complex, multi-jurisdictional work within a wide range of regulatory frameworks. As a global company that’s recently undertaken a major merger, operates across three continents and has major growth ambitions, there are many development opportunities here.

You will be part of a team responsible for securing workable regulatory conditions for PPB’s international business and managing PPB’s international legal risk profile. We are looking for a lawyer who will be heavily involved in advising on the legal and regulatory issues relating to PPB’s global business. The successful candidate will show a willingness to engage not only in legal matters but also engage in policy issues with a view to obtaining successful outcomes. The areas of legal work will involve litigious and non-litigious matters and will involve working with external lawyers and government affairs consultancies.

Key Responsibilities:

We are looking for a junior lawyer (up to 3 years PQE) who will be heavily involved in the regulatory issues relating to Paddy Power Betfair’s business. Candidates shall be expected to demonstrate experience in the following areas:

  • Experience of handling regulatory or competition or administrative law matters

Experience of dealing with regulators either in-house or in private practice as well as some evidence of experience in advising in relation to regulated industries (e.g gambling, telecoms, utilities);

  • Litigation experience would be useful (but not essential);

  • As a large part of the role will also relate to international legal and regulatory matters, experience of dealing with cross-border legal issues will be an advantage;

  • Some experience of dealing with industry compliance matters desirable.

  • Interest in gambling law.

  • Desire to forge a career in an in-house legal department and to branch out and do a mixture of work to include advise to the business on international legal risk, managing litigation, advising on gambling regulation and future compliance with licensing regimes.

  • Some travel necessary.

  • Fluency in Spanish would be a real advantage. Portuguese or German also useful.
