Legal Cashier & Accounts Payable Assistant

Our client, a large US law firm, based in Chancery Lane, wish to hire an experienced legal cashier to join their London accounts team to cover maternity leave. You will report into the Finance Manager whilst liaising with the firms bank, and will be responsible for all day to transactional duties across office/client account and accounts payable. Duties include;

  • Inputting invoices, ensuring correct codes are used and appropriate approvals have been given
  • Dealing with Barclaycard, including payment and posting of statements to 3E
  • Regularly dealing with firm wide travel suppliers
  • Preparing vendor and ad-hoc payment requests
  • Respond to internal queries from employees and external vendors providing additional information when requested
  • Operating petty cash and foreign currency requests
  • Assisting with review of expenses on Chrome River against firm policy and the processing of payments on a weekly basis
  • Prepare BACs payment runs and ad-hoc cheque requests
  • Provide support to cashier team
  • Performing of daily bank reconciliations and other checks
  • Payment of counsel fees
  • Handling direct debit payments
  • Preparing the monthly office & client bank reconciliations
  • Processing receipts and payments in/out of the client account
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of SAR and AML with all duties performed

To be considered you will ideally be available at short notice and will possess a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in an international law firm environment, preferably with experience of using Elite 3E and Chrome River.

A sound understanding of compliance procedures, ie, SRA, VAT and anti-money laundering along with a flexible approach is also necessary.
