Our client based in Guildford are seeking a Legal Assistant to join their busy team.

The role of the Legal Assistant is to provide legal support to all lawyers in the following specific areas:

Know How Support

  • Templates maintenance & update
  • Knowledge management
  • Legal research

Commercial Properly Legal Support

  • Obtaining OCEs
  • Obtaining monies on account where required
  • Property searches
  • Preparing replies to CPSE and requisitions on title
  • Drafting Contracts & Transfers
  • Preparing reports on property/lease for client
  • Preparing certificates of title for bank
  • Exchanging & completing legal documents
  • Preparing completion statements
  • Providing ad hoc assistance throughout transaction
  • Communicating with clients post-completion, including:
    • preparing SDLT Return and ensuring SDLT is paid on time;
    • preparing AP1 & submitting via the LR portal
    • checking updated registers
    • sending docs to mortgagee
  • Awareness of compliance procedures on all files and raising any concerns with COLP
  • 1st draft of Declarations of Trust

It is envisaged that the right candidate following training and with solicitor support will run their own case load of the more straightforward property transactions, eg lease assignments, intra-partnership transfers etc.

Litigation Legal Support

  • Preparing court/CMC/trial bundles
  • Communicating with Courts & clients as required
  • Case evidence gathering and preparation
  • Document management
  • Preparing Form H costs budgets
  • Drafting witness statements
  • Liaising with + instructing counsel and experts

Company Commercial Legal Support

  • Obtaining company searches & report on same
  • Completing various Company forms for online/postal filing at Companies House
  • Drafting HoTs
  • 1st draft BTAs
  • 1st draft Shareholders Agreements
  • Due diligence
  • General Office Support
  • File closing and deeds storage
  • Assisting Solicitors with day to day queries that arise
  • Assisting Colleagues with meetings / presentations
  • Sourcing information such as details of mediators, surveyors, accountants, etc
  • Diary Management
  • Resolving Post / Emails

And any other ADHOC duties as and when required.
