Legal Adviser

Up to £350 per day but can be negotiable.

This role is a short term contract for up to 5 months

Due to our continued success as one of the country’s leading suppliers of heavy commercial vehicles we have an exciting opportunity for a proactive, enthusiastic and highly motivated Legal Adviser.

Based at our Milton Keynes Head Office you will be reporting to the Company Solicitor and providing legal advice to the company and depots.

Responsibilities:

  • Product Liability and Workmanship claims
  • Employers Liability and other insurance claims
  • General advice on disputes/requests for information
  • Non-standard contract reviews and advice on clause wording
  • Production of new templates and review of existing template agreements
  • Tender reviews
  • Property (both new and existing estate) advice
  • Data Protection advice - both existing position and preparation for the new GDPR
  • Competition Law advice
  • Modern Slavery Act advice
  • Insolvency advice
  • Approval of marketing adverts and external company websites
  • Trade Mark registration and advice on protection of intellectual property
  • Advice to Scania Finance
  • Policy drafting
  • Legal training
  • Watching brief on new legislation and regulation
  • Legal research.

Candidate Requirements

  • Demonstrable ability to convey legal concepts to non-lawyers
  • Ability to work well with internal stakeholders
  • Commercially and financially aware
  • Keen to learn and develop their legal skills
  • Good attention to detail

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister with a minimum of 1-2 years pqe in commercial law (Private Practice or In-house).
  • Experienced newly qualified para legal or qualified by experience para legal
  • Proficient typing skills and Word, Powerpoint, Outlook and Excel skills
