Learning Support Assistant

This large Academy are looking for a dynamic, experienced, and motivated individual who is looking to make a difference as a Learning Support Assistant. The role will require you to complete a First Aid course that will be provided by the school. You will be joining a fantastic department who work very closely to ensure students are provided with the relevant support required. The team is made up of Learning Support Assistants with varying levels of experience, providing you with great levels of support around you. You will be required to provide support to students on a 1:1 and small group basis, predominantly being based in the classroom.

Job purpose:

  • To assist subject related, classroom-based learning by mediating the learning experience of children in the class, especially those children who have special educational needs.
  • To use personal mediating skills along with materials, instructions and strategies provided by the class teacher to support individuals and small groups of children, especially those who have special educational needs
  • To deliver support from subject related/class-based strategies at request of the SENCO. This can either be during specific periods of the school year
  • To provide intimate care for pupils with specific personal needs

First Aid Responsibility (training will be provided)

  • To work in the Welfare Room part of the day to administer basis first aid and manage medication, under agreed school procedures

The right applicant for this Teaching Assistant position will:

  • Have experience of working as a teaching assistant (desired)
  • Have an interest in the education sector
  • SEND experience (Desired)
  • A recent graduate (graduated within last 2 years)
  • Ability to engage with and inspire young learners.
