Learning Support Assistant - Teaching Assistant - Autism

We are looking for Learning Support Assistants / Teaching Assistants to join an independent specialist day school that supports children with high functioning Autism.

Salary - £12,595 per year - 38 weeks (term time only). Full-Time and Permanent.

The organisation operates over 100 high quality schools, colleges and homes and focus on making a real, lasting difference for everyone they support.

The School:

Set in its own grounds close to Frome, the school is an independent specialist day and residential school for children and young people aged 6 to 19 years with high functioning autistic spectrum disorders, including Asperger's Syndrome and associated difficulties.

Students have ambitions to live and work as self-reliant adults and the school can help them to reach their goals with continued support, structure and guidance.

The Role:

The role of a Learning Support Assistant/ Teaching Assistant is pivotal to the school achieving the outcomes for their children. As a Learning Support Assistant/ Teaching Assistant you will be a key member of the team, enhancing the education of students. This is a great opportunity to build experience working amongst young people with ASD.

The Successful Person:

You will need excellent communication skills, along with patience and enthusiasm. A flexible attitude is essential in order to respond to the changing needs of the students. You must also be able to demonstrate a high degree of emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

A clean driving licence with at least 3 years driving experience is essential. A QCF level 3 Diploma in relevant care/children & young people related area or equivalent or higher recognised qualification is desirable.
