What do we mean by ‘every day is different’?
Our L&D team support and assist with all learning interventions and training requirements for all business areas across npower which means that the requirements of the business are very different from one area to the next, ranging from induction and onboarding for new starters, to upskilling our existing employees, to organising and delivering role specific training sessions.
As a Specialist in this area, your goal is to manage the end to end learning journey from point of which a request comes in from the business. You’ll be leading face to face consultation meetings with the relevant stakeholder to determine the requirements of their learning or training request. To ensure we don’t miss a thing, we try to video or record these consultations to enable us to look back and analyse the discussion in detail. It’s up to you how you capture all of the information needed to effectively deliver your solution but it’s absolutely your responsibility to drive this conversation to understand the initial problem statement, the how’s, the why’s and benefits to the individuals and the business. You’ll use this to identify best practices and decide what approach is best for the area, coupled with performing a skills gap analysis within the business to really understand, design and deliver an effective solution.
Our aim is to offer a blended learning approach which will support an individual throughout their journey. This could include various interventions from a digital solution, where you’ll liaise with our Digital Content Developers, through to delivering live sessions with the relevant business areas so you’ll need to have the confidence to present in front of others whilst continually managing the stakeholder's expectations and ensuring they are informed with progress updates.
It doesn’t end there, we’re always looking to continually improve our solutions and service to the business to ensure we are getting it right first time. You’ll keep in touch with stakeholders and continually manage those relationships to make sure the solution has met the requirements and was delivered in an effective way. At times, there may be a need to identify changes and deliver new solutions to make sure we hit the correct objectives.
Required skills and experience
To be successful, you’ll need to possess the following skills and experience:
- Experience in Learning and Development and a similar role
- Ability to be flexible and juggle multiple projects at any one time and be able and willing to travel between sites across the Midlands
- Experience of managing projects and stakeholder expectations
- Have the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively at all levels
- Understanding of evaluation processes and continuous improvement methods
- Have presentation skills and experience of presenting to different audiences
- Be organised, have excellent time management and be able to hit the ground running

Salary and package details
With a salary of up to £30,000, you’ll also receive up to 10% annual bonus, 25 days annual leave, a generous pensions scheme and be able to opt for other flexible benefits.
